Lores

Werewolf: The Apocalypse states Lores as a secondary skill or ability. Because of the specific nature of Ahadi: East Africa, the Storytellers have taken a liberty on this rule in order to make this system make sense and work for the game. We are differentiating between lore as a type of Knowledge trait (and will be treated as an additional knowledge) and Lore, which will apply to something you may learn in-character only

  • Lores are considered a Background trait that may not be raised via XP expenditures after Character Creation. Since many consider this as a type of metagame knowledge, we want to restrict it.
  • All Characters start with Ahadi Lore 1. This grants them enough knowledge to know about Black Tooth and the events that led to the Ahadi.
  • Garou, Mokole, Bastet, and Corax start with Breed Lore 3. Ajaba, due to their lost histories start at Breed Lore 2.
  • Garou and Bastet receive Tribe Lore 2. Ajaba, for their past role as a Bastet, receive Bastet Lore 2. It is through Bastet Lore that the Simba and Ajaba knowledge of one another is justified.
  • Characters may not exceed Breed Lore 3, Tribe Lore 3, Ahadi Lore 2 at Character Creation.
  • All Breed Lores of other character types must be earned In Character or unless the Player is given consent by a Storyteller for justifiable background cases.
  • Lores can and will be raised when a Player feels their Character has reached a level of justifiable cause. At this point, the Player and ST must discuss what justifies a raise in their Lore rating. If the Storyteller and Player agree that the Character has learned enough to justify another point, the point will be granted.
  • Lores are not freebies. In most games, Lores are given or bought during play. Unfortunately we feel this is a faulty system for a knowledge-based trait such as this. One does not wake up in the morning and automatically know the secrets and mysteries to a Tribe, Breed, or the Ahadi. You must earn these points through seeking knowledge in the game. This facilitates Cooperation, one of the major themes of this game, and may even warrant Experience Points or Renown!
  • Triat and Creation Myth Lores have been not been listed for a reason. Because we are using Lores as a Background trait, rather than a secondary skill or ability, you will not be rolling Lores to find out information, or to gain insight.
