Here are some charts and information for making the most out of the things in the heavens.

Contrary to White-Wolf, astronomically, a lunar year is 13 months (at least in terms with eventually synching with the solar calendar) and 12.6 lunar months happen per solar calendar year. Full Moon is the beginning of the third quarter and is therefore not the beginning of a cycle, which is technically the New Moon. Full Moon is the peak of a cycle, which is why the full moon waxes and wanes in respect to the full.

Because of variations in the movement of the moon, the wobble of the earth, the gradual slowing of orbits, and the various timezone we play in, there is no easy answer as to what phase something is (for purposes of Auspice) unless we use specific times, which is a pain in the ass and cumbersome for a game. Since this is a game, we round numbers and use guesses. For our purposes, use the chart below to determine the Phase. If the day falls on the specific listed date, then no guess work is needed. If the day in question falls within within one day of a date on the table, use that phase as well. If the day in question is the same from BOTH dates listed on either side, then ALWAYS side with the Gibbous or Crescent, never the New, Quarter, or Half.

Why?
Because each Quarter Event (New, Half, Full) is considered to be at its peak visually for only one day on either side of the official date, although technically, that phase lasts 1.8 or so days on either side of the exact time. A full moon is supposed to look full, a new moon is supposed to be dark, and a half moon is supposed to look 50% full. If any dark enters a full moon (visually) it becomes gibbous; if any light enters a new moon, it becomes crescent. If a half moon slips to either side, it is gibbous or crescent.

Crescents and Gibbous simply refer to being visually less or more than 50%, so each crescent or gibbous range has a 4 day visual period.

All scientifically based dates are as is (full, new, quarters); crescents and gibbous are based on 3 from the half.
